| John
Mutter, Jr., has led an interesting life. While in the U.S. Navy
and the Merchant Marines he's traveled to many different countries.
He has served on 12 different ships in his life at sea. He has
experienced life at sea on the Atlantic, Pacific and He has worked in over 30 different jobs in his working life. The last job he worked before taking early retirement was operating steam boilers in the power plant of a maximum security prison for 15 years. Working all these different jobs has caused him to meet many people and he has collected many stories that he was told by others. This makes for a treasure trove of material for his fiction stories. John has been writing seriously for over 25 years and has collected six writing awards. He has published two books, To Slay a Giant and Out in the Country and has had stories printed in six different magazines and articles or letters that appeared in over 30 different newspapers. John has been profiled in each edition of Who's Who in America ® since 2005. He's been interviewed by telephone from a radio station in He is currently working on a collection of fiction stories that will have around 33 stories in it. John is a rural guy, having lived in the country for most of his life. Along with his wife, Karen, they have two Yorkshire Terrier dogs named, Joey and Barney. They also have an 85-year-old log chicken coop, where about 25 laying hens and one rooster reside. They sell fresh eggs to people who stop in. John enjoys talking about his life as a freelance writer, his books and some of his experiences in life. He has a lot of material to draw from. Some of the experiences he might talk about are his near-death experience at age eleven. John is co-editor of the Shawano County Sesquicentennial 1853 - 2003 book, prepares the quarterly publication, Journey in time for the Shawano County Historical Society and is president of the Shawano Area Writers. The charge for John speaking for up to one hour, will depend on the ability to pay. A non-profit organization, that's not to far from his home, may only have to purchase a few of his books. Those who can afford to pay will be charged a reasonable fee. Community events, fund raisers, family gatherings, library events, a dedication, or any other special time where a speaker is needed, Mr. Mutter will be glad talk to people of all ages. |
